Hawke’s Bay wine celebration

Take hundreds of wines, dozens of producers, one event and what do you have? The answer is: this year’s Hawke’s Bay Wine Celebration, to be held on Friday 16 to Saturday 17 September in Wellington and Friday 23 to Saturday 24 September in Auckland.

The event has been renamed from its former incarnation as Hot Red Hawke’s Bay, which highlighted the region’s top reds (and, in later years, its white wines too). This year’s event will feature three vintages of wines from the Bay, including 2013, 2014 and 2015 – each of them among the best years on record, in terms of climate and high quality grapes (and, therefore, wine).

The first day in each city is targeted to those working in the drinks and hospitality trade while the Saturday events are open to all wine lovers and others who are interested. Tickets cost $55 to the Saturday events while trade entry is complimentary, care of the winemakers in Hawke’s Bay, which is New Zealand’s second largest wine region.
