Wine of the week - $25 recession buster red

Here's a wine to turn the heads of the most price conscious among us, offering extremely good value for money and more than a touch of complexity for $25.

17.5+/20

2021 Warra Wirra Church Block Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Merlot RRP $25-ish
A wine loving work colleague put a bottle of this sensational bottle of wintery red wine on the desk of yours truly to see how it rated. Very well, it turns out.

McLaren Vale is a hot bed of experimentation in south Australia and this wine is a classic example of great value to be found at an incredibly modest price. The unconventional blend of Bordeaux’s greatest red grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, with gusty spicy Shiraz is fleshed out by the softness of Merlot, all captured in a smooth, surprisingly complex red at a low-ish price - particularly in today’s market.
