Wine of the week - beautiful by name and by nature

Wine of the week Bel Canto

19.5/20

2020 Pegasus Bay Bel Canto Dry Riesling RRP $42

Beautiful by name and by nature, Bel Canto is the greatest Riesling in the South Island with its incredible concentration of ripe orange and mandarin flavours coming from hand picked grapes with a high portion of shrivelled botrytis bunches making up 30 per cent of the juice. It was fermented with natural yeasts in old, large barrels which gives the wine extremely concentrated complexity and richness.

There's a lot going on in every zingy sip of this wine, which includes a little CO2 to add spritz texture and liveliness to each mouthful. Floral aromas add depth and there are notes of mango, ginger and lime zest.

Lingering, rich and deliciously succulent - a great white with major fruit concentration and made in a dry style - great to see the words Dry Riesling on the front label.

Bravo...
